The Franklin Wine Festival held its first Vintner’s Dinner for the 2009 season last week at Criallo’s Bistro in Cool Springs. Guests enjoyed a give course “Wines of the World” dinner featuring vintages from Italy, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, and California.

The Grand Wine and Food Tasting will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at The Factory at Franklin featuring over 300 wines and culinary offerings from more than 25 of Middle Tennessee’s finest chefs. All proceeds of the event benefit the mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee helping vulnerable children beat the odds.

Join in the fun at the Shelby Bottoms Boogie for CASA!

On September 26th, the 10th Annual Shelby Bottoms Boogie 15K/5K race will be held in Shelby Bottoms Park in East Nashville. That Saturday, hundreds of runners and walkers will enjoy a flat, fast race course along the Cumberland River while raising money for a great cause. This family-friendly event is open to all ages and features post-race festivities, refreshments, and prizes for age group winners. All proceeds from the race benefit CASA of Nashville’s volunteer program. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Davidson County is a non-profit organization that trains and supports community volunteers to be Special Advocates for children who have been victims of abuse or neglect. Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children in need and to assist them in achieving their highest potential by facilitating a professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships with a committed volunteer.

With the help of many dedicated individuals the 2008 tournament netted over $200,000. This puts total funds raised at $1.6 million to help fight breast cancer, a disease that is diagnosed every 3 minutes.

About TBCC:

The Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition was founded in 1995 to increase awareness of breast cancer issues to men and women in Tennessee. In just over 10 years, our efforts have led us to a vast number of accomplishments in our state.

Today, we are able to provide assistance to more men and women than any other breast cancer grassroots organization in the state.

As part of the event, F. Scott’s donated a portion of all food sales to the literacy organization. BooneDocks Distribution, LLC, also sponsored the event. Attendees brought new books to donate to Book’em and enjoyed live music during the evening.
